The basis of this tool is the redwood cone. Only fine grain clear redwood is chosen for the manufacture of this tool. Redwood was chosen over cherry for this tool because redwood is more porous than cherry. This greater porosity allows more water to be held within the redwood leading to a much better steaming action.
All aluminum components are used for the rotating flange and spindle so that they hold up well submerged in water. This rotating feature allows for ease of operation (easier to manipulate than others) while the fine grain redwood facilitates a superior seal to the glass. Soak in water for a week and it's ready to go. |
