Didymium Glass absorbs the bright yellow sodium flare (589 NM) which occurs when
heating glass in the torch flame. They allow safe viewing of glass as it is
worked in the flame. For the beginning lampworker using Mapp gas or propane
torches with soft, soda-lime glass. May also be used for periodic viewing of
fusing kiln projects. This brand is not recommended for high pressure torch
flames on hard glass, pyrex or quartz.
Dual purpose safety glasses for the hot
glass worker. Lens surfaces are 24K Gold coated to reflect against radiant
energy such as what is emitted from an open furnace or glory hole. Didymium
lenses are made of scratch resistant polycarbonate. Frames have side shields for
peripheral protection. The lenses have a darker blue color under the gold
surface which passes less light. (for small furnace or Glory Hole exposure).
