I think it works great. It takes a bit of adjustment. use the right size of wheel for the same size tape and make sure the glass is center of the wheel it works on most peices. Mary L Snyder 2/3/2010

I have one of the original version of this foiler. I've had it for awhile but had put away my stained glass stuff before ever using it when my daughter was born. I got it out recently and absolutely LOVE it. It goes SO much faster than hand foiling. I suspect if it didn't work for someone it would be about practicing a bit or using the right sized wheel or maybe adjusting it up or down (have to turn both screws--although someone else mentioned a spring and mine doesn't have a spring; it has another nut below). Mine did come with instructions, although they aren't very detailed. They did mention turning it on its side to check that the glass is centered in the groove after adjusting wheel position. I was able to do textured glass and smallish pieces with it, but did have to do the tiny pieces by hand. Still, a huge time saver. The only thing I don't like is that mine has less work surface area than what is shown in the picture for the newer model.

It makes foiling go much faster for most pieces. As noted in the other comment, it does not do as well with highly textured glass. Small pieces are better done by hand.

An easy to use foiler. It works well on most glass. If the glass is thicker or if it is textured the foiler does not work.
