Duraboard is a rigid, high temperature board that can be used in place of a ceramic kiln shelf. It withstands temperatures up to 2300 degF. Duraboard saws easily, making it handy for fitting kiln interiors or for a drop-out mold. It contains an organic binder which burns off from 350-1000 degF. Requires no shelf primer if used at slumping or painting temperatures under 1200°F. Sheet size: 24" x 48". Coat both sides with alumina rigidizer hardener (recommended).

Designed to harden fiber paper mold constructions. Apply to the fiber mold with a brush and cure at 175°F until surface is hard. Mold surface can be sanded to a smooth finish. Repeat the process, and the mold will be ready for firing to 1300°F.

Hydrocal white is harder than the usual casting plaster. Excellent for casting and sculpting. It also serves well for molds or models. For parting molds, a parting agent (separator) must be used. Hydrocal is an indoor material and not to be used outdoors. Must be stored in a dry atmosphere to avoid absorbing moisture. A 4.5kg mixture requires 2040-2077 ml of water (10 lb of mix to 69-77 fl. oz. of water). Ultra-fine additive to give strength to plaster casting molds.Various references report adding 20-40% silica to hydrocal increases temperature range and durability of the casting mold. Common plaster has a maximum temperature range of 1300°F. Adding silica increases the safe range to 1450°F, the typical casting temperature. Pre-mix dry with hydrocal before sifting into water.
